Early Wednesday morning, I took the drone to try out using the Active Track 360 mode to follow me, and see how it worked. This was really my first real trial of the drone, other than the previous day’s takeoff and landing.

I headed to a small trail here in Bedford, near the Tim Hortons at Mill Cove. Here there is an old Moirs building that is now, or was a tourist chalet.  From here there is a gravel trail that follows the brook/river from Papermill Lake. The amount of water here can vary from a steady stream like today, to a mere trickle in the height of summer, or a raging torrent overflowing its banks after a storm.

At the head of the brook/river is a dam on the lake, though I have to confess to having no idea why! I’ll show that more in future videos and pictures as well.

It was early morning, about 7:30 am, and I really didn’t anticipate meeting others, and hoped not to as I am not confident in the drone or my skills yet. That said, the lady I met was kind enough, and the last person was avoided mostly due to terrain interference!

While I’ve ridden and walked the trail before, I really had no recollection of the clearance, and at the end of the video, I landed short of the end as I was worried about colliding with a tree or branch.  Ahh to have been that careful yesterday (Sunday, April 14 I crashed it)!

One thing I hadn’t thought about till after this video was that there was no microphone.  As the drone itself can be hundreds or even thousands of meters from you, that makes sense, but I’d kind of expected one on the controller. No such luck, so in future posts, we’ll examine the microphone option(s) I tried/will try, and have posts on them and other accessories.

Will also examine the controller as well, as well as dive into more details on settings and how to use them, but my initial posts will definitely revolve more around learnimg.

If you’re interested in the trail, the location can be seen on the map below.

Just got my hands on a drone, and let me tell you, it's awesome (and way trickier than it looks!). I'm here to document my adventures in the sky, share epic aerial photos and videos (hopefully!), and learn alongside all you other drone newbies. We'll explore the coolest accessories, tackle those inevitable challenges (read: crash landings!), and figure out all the pitfalls together. Buckle up for some wobbly flights, stunning scenery, and maybe a few laughs along the way!
