Sometimes you need both hands free, one example is when you clap to sync your videos. You do this to get a spike in audio, or in my case yesterday, I was able to also sync my hands from both the screen record and the drone video. Of course that only works if you have the drone camera on you at the same time! The spike from the audio track will work in both instances.
I could always put the controller down of course, but depending on where you are, thats not always convenient. Environmental factors like water, tall grass, etc could make this less than ideal.
I honestly didn’t know there were even screw holes on the RC2 controller to attach anything until I watched a video on YouTube. I’d credit by linking here, but I honestly don’t recall when I watched it, nor did I bookmark it, or recall much about it, and I can no longer find it.
But once I knew, a lanyard became a no-brainer. I can just attach it and loop it round my neck. And luckily they aren’t expensive. I picked up this one for $20.
It seems comfortable enough, and has two options for the type of screws and two colours. I have the tan ones, with the triangular mount. As the mounts fold, no issues stuffing the controller in the slightly tight fitting bag supplied with the DJI Fly more package.
Hopefully it stands the test of time. I still need to figure out something for riding bike, as I don’t want the controller flopping everywhere on a lanyard, but all the bike mounts seem to be for round handlebars, and mine are the flatter, more aero style. Any recommendations?
Just got my hands on a drone, and let me tell you, it's awesome (and way trickier than it looks!). I'm here to document my adventures in the sky, share epic aerial photos and videos (hopefully!), and learn alongside all you other drone newbies. We'll explore the coolest accessories, tackle those inevitable challenges (read: crash landings!), and figure out all the pitfalls together. Buckle up for some wobbly flights, stunning scenery, and maybe a few laughs along the way!
