On Sunday, the 14th of April, I took the drone to Africville (see map below) for its beautiful scenery. The wind conditions at home didn’t seem so bad, however, the wind picked up midway through my walk, so I cut the video short rather than continue.
To make this video, I had to do a screen recording from the RC2 drone controller, which captured the audio, and video from the drone as well, and sync them up. I didn’t try any of the techniques I’d seen online to do so, so I know this is a little out of sync.
Next time, I’ll try the “clap your hands” technique where you can sync the spike in the audio track with the clap itself in the video.
The microphone worked, and as you can hear, quite well when I wasn’t moving, but there was a large buzz when I was. I was wearing it inside my coat, and am sure the movement caused it rub against the fabric, but I’m not sure if that was the only reason, or if there was other interference causing it.
I’ll have to try more videos, probably many, to get it right I’m sure. The thought is a bit daunting, as I hate my own voice on recordings! But I guess that’s a common feeling.
I had an idea during this, for future content, to rearch some locations and have a script of sorts in mind to tell about the areas I am visiting. Of course, I’m not going to read from a script while walking, but hopefully can retain enough to make some sense in a free form “chat”.
Other locations may not lend themselves to that, for example Peggy’s Cove, as there will be too many people around, and looking at me like an idiot (not saying they are wrong). But I can also add audio after the fact for those locations and maybe keep the ambient audio as a lower level background.
Ideas, ideas. Now to implement them
Just got my hands on a drone, and let me tell you, it's awesome (and way trickier than it looks!). I'm here to document my adventures in the sky, share epic aerial photos and videos (hopefully!), and learn alongside all you other drone newbies. We'll explore the coolest accessories, tackle those inevitable challenges (read: crash landings!), and figure out all the pitfalls together. Buckle up for some wobbly flights, stunning scenery, and maybe a few laughs along the way!
